Just as a random aside, if you want to understand gay culture/vampirism, watch a film called L.I.E. (Long Island Expressway) with Brian Cox playing a lecherous old pedophile and Paul Dano playing a young man he has his eye on. There are no sex scenes, its not lurid in that way, but it shows the culture, how it works etc, there is a character named Gary who is Paul Dano's friend who is a deadringer for Aaron McKinney and Brian Cox is a great stand-in for Doc O'Connor

Terrific show

Much nuance

Baruch, you specifically define erudite & savvy and your guest reflected the same awareness.

The hidden man-to-man meth-fueled proclivities of Mid-America 🙄

I like the analogy of reverting to wigger amongst many.

The preacher from Kansas encountering cruising culture reminded me of when I was detained by police for an hour in front of my apartment building for circling the block trying to park which violated a new cruising ordinance in Minneapolis in 1996 despite my driver's license showing the buildings address that we were pulled over in front of.

Nearby loring Park was a decadent debauched after dark playground for perverts.

A local rabbi's brother was killed in that era after bringing home rough trade.

The rabbi from Temple Israel got busted at a porn theater playing with his peewee and Temple Israel stood behind him.

They later threw Rudy boschwitz under the bus to endorse Paul wellstone, Rudy was a long time congregant as well as senator. I was there the night they did it he was unaware it was to happen.

Larry Craig got caught in the airport bathroom here too, he was a Methodist anti-gay crusader.

I'm aware of a fellow who trains police dogs who is also deep in the communities you mentioned dealing with the chemicals mentioned.

Minneapolis in its libtard way named parkway in Minneapolis after a black obese city councilman William Berry who was stabbed by a street youth who he had picked up who turned down his advances.

Endless bemusement at the jew haters when their own keep owning it 🤣

Is there a simple app that could transcribe the interview for reading?

Oh one more point involving gay culture and the less savory aspects such as disease. David Horowitz's Radical Son discusses this a lot. If you have not read this memoir, you absolutely should because you can learn so much about how the left works, and how they think. Randy Shilts' book And the Band Played On discusses the AIDS epidemic and its early onset, and I must warn you, that it takes a strong stomach to read a lot of this stuff. There was an infamous thread floating around internet on Gaetan Dugas and how he knowingly spread this virus. This is unpleasant reading that is not for the faint of heart. But again, Matthew Shephard was HIV positive and these readings sort of show how one gets to this state, and promiscuity does not even scratch the surface. Its like saying that an intercontinental ballistic missile is fast like a Honda Civic is fast. There is a reason that all of this stuff was framed the way it was.

Read this book around the time it came out. Remember being blown away by real story. I think I'm around same age as Baruch (maybe few years older). I remember the Matthew Sheppard hagiography from high school. Got it in school and from places like MTV. The bullying/homophobia narrative was so successfully exploited I think it was one of the reasons terms like "that's so gay" or faggot went out of fashion a decade or so after.

One more thing. There’s probably a limit on how much homo-drug-fueled true crime one should read in a year but this story always reminded me of the murder of Bobby Kent. But unlike Sheppard’s story we’ve yet to hear the real version. The book Bully (later turned into a movie by Larry Clark) goes with the “revenge” angle. (though it does briefly show the gay-for-pay underground Kent and one of his killer’s were involved in). The reality is probably much closer to the Sheppard story.
